Sometimes we get a great idea but we aren’t sure what to do with it next. Like starting anything new, having a plan or a roadmap is incredibly helpful in going forward. When beginning a new writing project, an outline is a crucial tool in setting the path for the story. - Does your teen love reading and dream of authoring a book of their own? - Do they spend their spare time spent writing? - Are you searching for a way for your teen to connect with others with similar interests? If you answered yes to any of the above, then this class is a great way to get started! In this class, we will discuss different outlining techniques and when to use them and begin an outline for their current story idea. Different ways to outline with a focus on the “Save the Cat” beat sheet Learners will need to have at least one story idea (a character, a setting, a conflict, or just an idea) to begin.
Learning Goals
Writers will learn multiple outlining styles and understand how to use one or more to fit their writing style
Writers will understand the difference between plotters, pantsers, and plantsers and learn which fits their current style of writing
Other Details
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
