Hello everyone! In this multi day class, we will meet twice a week for 4 weeks. Each week, we will focus on a different topic: Week 1: Safari animals Week 2: Space Week 3: People who help us Week 4: The Seaside. These topics are popular early years topics that I have also taught in brick and mortar schools. Each class, we will begin by singing a hello song to all of the students. This will then be followed by discussing the weather and completing our class calendar. We will practice phonics and counting skills in this section too. We will then practice a range of skills to help your child get ready for school. This will include specific phonics work, blending CVC words, letter formation, math work, investigation, creative skills and social skills. Here is a break down of what we will be learning during each class: Week 1: Safari animals Day 1: We will go on a safari hunt, students will learn the names of the different animals and we will practice the initial letter/sound of the animal names. The students will then complete a cutting and sticking activity to make their own safari scene. Students will be encourage to talk to each other about their safari scenes. Day 2: We will watch safari animals in their habitats and learn fun facts about them. Students will practice counting the animals in the videos. Finally the students will complete a animal pattern writing sheet to help develop good pencil control and practice early writing skills. Week 2: Space Day 1: We will sing 5 little men in a flying saucer and practice taking away 1. Then we will role play being an astronaut and talk about what we can see in Space. Finally, the students will practice their counting skills with a space counting sheet Day 2: We will read the story ‘I want to be an astronaut’ and discuss. Students will then complete an early writing space tracing sheet. Week 3: People who help us Day 1: People who help us interactive game - students will learn about different professions. Students will then complete a who can help me cut and stick activity Day 2: We will watch a short video about people who help us and discuss with each other. Students will then complete a people who help us color and count activity. Week 4: The Seaside Day 1: We will focus on the initial sound s and read an Initial sound s, seaside story. Students will practice letter formation of the letter s. We will then practice reading CVC words with the letter s. Day 2: We will play a 'What can you see at the seaside' game. Students will then complete a seaside color by numbers activity, developing their number recognition skills. There will be activities to print out for class - I will post these in the classroom each Sunday ready for the week. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Vicki. I am a mum to my beautiful 5 year old son and I am also a fully qualified primary school teacher. I LOVE to teach and I have been teaching for 15 years.
I have taught students from age 3 up to 11 years in a UK primary school and I specialize in teaching early years students and students with special educational needs.
For the past 2 years I have also been teaching online alongside my school teaching job. Online I have taught students from age 3 to 16.
I love to make teaching fun for the student and I often relate my classes to popular TV characters to engage children further. I teach in a multi sensory way as I think that is how children learn best and it helps to create a lifelong love of learning.
I can't wait to see you in class!
