Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
🍎 In this self-paced course, students will learn all the letters of the alphabet and their basic sounds at their own pace. Your student will be engaged with fun activities including singing, art, games and more! This is a great class for young learners at a preschool level, will be entering kindergarten or want to review their letter names and sounds.

⏰ A self-paced course does not rely on live meetings but instead has videos, worksheets and other posts in the OutSchool classroom. This is ideal for learning letter sounds because your child can practice over and over again. In addition, every child can learn at their own pace. The materials for this class will be available indefinitely so you truly can work at any pace you need/want!

🗓️ 🗓️ 🗓️ Weekly schedule:
On Mondays and Wednesdays I will post 2 short videos introducing the letter(s) of the week. In these videos we will learn letter recognition, how to correctly write each letter, teach and sing songs and practice the basic sounds they make.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I will post a 5-10 minute video focused on the letter from the previous day that includes a fun play dough activity with instructions. Additional activities will include letter tracing.

Every Friday I will post a video including a game or activity to help review what we learned throughout the week. This may include a letter hunt, picture sort, bingo and more. Students can look forward to sharing what they did each week and will be able to post pictures to the classroom to show off what they learned!

✏️ Kids will need coloring utensils like crayons or markers, pencil, scissors, glue, play dough, and the provided worksheets printed off.

⭐ If you are not receiving emails about posts to the classroom after the first couple days in class, please check your emails SPAM folder. Often messages from OutSchool end up there and get lost.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I hold a bachelor’s degree in special education, along with additional training in teaching the arts and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). With over 20 years of experience working with children, I’ve been a certified teacher, a homeschool mom, and an educator for diverse age groups and subjects. My teaching background spans from severe-profound special education preschool to honors high school, but my greatest passion lies in the arts and creative education. I specialize in drawing, brick building, elementary literacy, special education, and baking—I even own a small bakery!

Art has always been close to my heart, and I love exploring various mediums, including drawing, paper crafts, oil paints, and acrylics. Art is not just a form of expression but also a way to build creativity and confidence. In my teaching, I focus on developing skills, exploring techniques, and inspiring others to find joy in creating unique works of art.

Reading and writing are equally important to me. I enjoy delving into different genres and using storytelling to spark imagination. Teaching literacy allows me to help students express themselves while building essential skills. My goal is to make reading exciting and writing an empowering form of creativity.

Baking is another passion I’m thrilled to share. Teaching baking classes allows me to bring people together through the joy of creating something delicious. From learning essential techniques to exploring creative recipes, I strive to make every class approachable, fun, and rewarding.

Outside the classroom, my husband and I enjoy adventures with our three children, whether camping, hiking, visiting the park, doing arts and crafts, or playing board games as a family.

I can’t wait to bring creativity and joy to our class—see you soon!
