Beginner - Advanced Level
During this math bootcamp, students will be introduced to multiple Common Core and traditional strategies for the main 4th grade math concepts. These include concepts of computation in all 4 math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), fractional units, and basic geometry. The weekly schedule will be as follows: Monday: Addition and Subtraction with and without regrouping (3 and 4 digit numbers) Tuesday: Multiplication (3 x 1, 4 x 1, and 2 x 2 digit numbers) Wednesday: Division (3 divided by 1 digit numbers) Thursday: Fractions (unit fractions, unit fraction addition, and equivalent fractions) Friday: Geometry (angles and polygons) The goal of the course is to provide both a deep conceptual understanding of concepts by using drawings and images to illustrate the math that is occurring. Students will practice using vocabulary, properties, equations, story problems and puzzles to practice these concepts. The purpose of this course is to introduce upcoming material for incoming 4th graders or review material for who may have struggled or fell behind last school year.
