What's included

Homework
2-4 hours per week. Learners will set and keep their own schedule and goals for active VR game play for the purpose of getting out of their seats and being intentional about moving. Learners will be encouraged to participate in active gaming at least 20 minutes a day, three or more days a week. There are no live meetings for this course.
Assessment
Learners will submit a weekly self-assessment of how they did on their own goals. Additionally, learners will issue challenges to other learners and the teacher of achieving particular goals during the coming week. Learners will evaluate their own performances and amend their own learning goals accordingly. Learners will be encouraged to improve their goals -- either through difficulty or duration -- week over week.

Parental Guidance
The world of virtual Reality (VR) video gaming is still relatively new. You will want to be familiar with the ratings of games that your learners play (ESRB, PEGI, etc.). Rhythm games, in particular, also could potentially have downloadable content (DLC) that contains musical tracks with offensive or age-inappropriate lyrics. These DLC add-ons would only be available to the individual learner who downloads such content and not particular to this class necessarily, but parents will want to be aware of what types of additional content their learners may be downloading in the course of VR gaming, in general. ** This class uses Virtual Reality (VR) gaming, and requires learners to have access to a VR headset and whatever game keeps them moving. These will need to be purchased separately from the class. **
Supply List
This class uses Virtual Reality (VR) gaming, and requires learners to have access to a VR headset and whatever game keeps them moving. These will need to be purchased separately from the class.

Recommended games (purchased separately) to get learners moving include titles such as: Beat Saber, Synth Riders, Audica, X-Fitness, etc.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
This teacher runs a homestead in the US Pacific Northwest - which means long, dark nights all winter. This has lent itself well to gaming, and my husband has dragged me into the world of VR, which I have jumped into for fitness, to get moving, and for sanity purposes. Let's have some healthy competition as we Get Moving together! :)
