Beginner - Intermediate Level
During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Mary Cassatt. They will draw one of her famous paintings called “Children Playing on the Beach.” They will understand how Mary used color and shadow to create her beautiful portraits! During the first half of class students will develop the drawing in five progressive steps. They will learn that drawings can also be broken down into five basic shapes. Mary Cassatt enjoyed painting portraits of women with their children. She achieved a unique l softness in all her paintings consistent with the Impressionism-style painting of her day! Your child will be inspired by her unique talent and the everyday scenes she portrayed. Optional Interactive activities: 1. Submit a picture of your completed drawing for teacher and student comment. 2. Tell a picture story about your favorite time at the beach. Upload a picture of your drawing.
Learning Goals
