Description

Class Experience

During our sessions, students will have the opportunity to:

1.	Learn to read critically, summarize, apply, synthesize, and analyze information from a variety of texts and media
2.	Develop strategies of reading, rhetorical analysis, and analytical thinking that can inform future writing situations
3.	Develop a focus-driven thesis that links to appropriate evidence and reasoning
4.	Employ strategies of the writing process (Pre-writing, drafting, revising)
5.	Use genre conventions and structure in writing (introductions, paragraphing, transitions, grammar, style, clear communication)
6.	Conduct meaningful, inquiry driven research that synthesizes multiple sources
I’m currently an Associate Instructor in the English Department at Indiana University, Bloomington. I’m also currently pursuing a PhD at Indiana University in English with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition. In addition, I work as a university writing center tutor at Indiana University's Writing Tutorial Services (WTS).

At the university level I teach writing, literature, rhetoric, and public speaking classes.
Students will be asked to provide a writing sample and complete a "writing goals" questionnaire prior to our first class.

(Note: Students who have taken the trial class will already have completed this questionnaire and submitted a writing sample.)
Students will need to provide a writing sample and complete a "writing goals" questionnaire at least 48 hours prior to our first class meeting.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be asked to provide a writing sample and complete a "writing goals" questionnaire prior to our first class meeting.
