Nouns are important parts of speech. In this class, the definition of a part of speech as well as what a noun actually is will be discussed. We will also learn about common and proper nouns and why nouns are so important in a sentence since they can be the subject of that sentence. Also, we identify nouns in sentences. I teach in a fun, relaxed manner. We will then allow the learner to draw some of the types of nouns we are discussing and write a sentence from their picture. If your learner does not have the writing skill, they may orally share their sentence(s). So, your student should come with drawing paper and crayons, color pencils, etc. Class Rules: We mute so we do not talk over one another, we raise our hand if we have a comment or questions, we are kind and respectful to everyone, and as per the Outschool Rules, the camera is turned on at the beginning of class so I may verify the learner.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the definition and how to identify common and proper nouns in the context of a sentence and individually.
