Stories are the cornerstone of our global culture, as we all have the propensity to become enchanted and enthralled by a good story. During this one-time course, students will discover how to select and draft a story that showcases their unique voices, original perspectives, and notable experiences. This lecture-style class will also examine the college application essay as a persuasive piece, meant to influence college admissions officers and present the student as a highly qualified fit...
Students will learn how to use storytelling techniques to create narratives that share their passions, showcase their personalities, and suggest their potentials. Students will also discover the growing prominence of the essay in their overall college application process, while considering these essays as persuasive tools to convince college admissions officers that they are qualified and capable applicants.
While there is no required homework for this course, students should expect to use the methods learned during the course over the time spent in the writing process, as they work to craft an engaging application essay.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress will not be assessed for this course.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
