Class Experience
Hi! In this class I will be reading one german story per class. The students will understand the context of the story without knowing much of the german vocabulary. In the beginning of the class we will do a song, talk about a picture or practice some verbs. Then I will introduce them to certain words that they will be able to identify in the story by flashcards with pictures. Most of the stories I read have at least one picture (from the flashcards) in each sentence which the students will...
Students... - get a feeling for the german language by listening to the story - learn german words - understand the context of a story, even though they don't understand every single word - engage with other learners and the teacher through conversation (in English and German) - get immersed in german language by talking, listening and singing - lose fear of making mistakes while speaking a different language - enjoy themselves in an open and fun atmosphere while still being focussed and engaged
I am a native german speaker. I grew up in Germany and have been in the United States since 2009.
There will be no homework, but if learners are interested in going deeper, I will send out vocabulary lists if you ask me.
There are no materials needed.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
