The original Brother's Grimm story of Little Red Riding Hood is perhps more gruesome than in other versions. The hunter rescues the girl and her grandmother by cutting open the wolf while he slept and pulling them out. He then sewed the wolf back up, with stones in his belly where the girl and her grandmother once were. When the wolf wakes and tries to stand, he falls to the ground and dies. The hunter takes the wolf's pelt and goes on his way.
