THIS COURSE IS FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE AT A LATE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL - THIS COURSE IS HELD IN GERMAN

This class will be an interactive & engaging class. We will be reading "Im Labyrinth der Lügen" (In the Labyrinth of Lies) together. A German historical novel.

„Im Labyrinth der Lügen" is both a thrilling escape and detective story with an authentic historical background.
Paul lives with his grandmother and his uncle Henry in East Berlin. His parents had attempted to flee with him to the West two years before, but somebody had betrayed the family. The parents were sent to prison and Paul was forced to live in one of the  children's homes, until his courageous grandmother rescued him and his parents were ransomed by the West....

This story shares about how life in East Germany was and how it effected families.

Each student will read part of the story each week and we will together comprehend the text. Comprehension, pronunciation and conversation is going to be a big part of each class. The student will increase their skills in answering German questions, strengthen their German grammar skills and for their homework they will expand their German writing skills. 

1st Lesson: We will start with introduction and I will share my expectations. Then we will read the first chapter and 2nd chapter in the book, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

2nd Lesson: We will talk about how our week was.  After this we will read chapter 3 and  4, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

3rd Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 5 and 6, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

4th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 7 and 8, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

5th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 9 and 10, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

6th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 11 and 12”, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

7th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 13 and 14, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

8th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 15 and 16, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

9th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 17 and 18, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

10th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 19 and 20, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

11th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 21 and 22, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

12th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 23 and 24, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

13th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 25 and 26, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

14th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will read chapter 27 and 28, answer comprehension questions, talk about homework.

15th Lesson: We will start with talking in German how our week was. After this we will summarize the book and share what we liked about the book and what not.


This class is good for students for are at the late intermediate/ early advanced stages in German. Homework will include  answering comprehension questions in German.

Note: Class needs a minimum of 3 enrolled students, for it to be held.
