Class Experience

Hallo und Guten Tag!

This course is for students who took the German Beginners Camp for High School with me, or who have similar knowledge of German through another class either on Outschool or other courses (please contact me prior to enrolling if you haven't taken the German Beginners Camp with me).

This class is especially interesting for High School students who are planning to study in Germany at some point. Universities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are popular thanks to their expertise, so many students from all over the world choose to study in German-speaking countries. German universities often offer excellent Master Studies for a lower price than other universities.

Reasons to learn German in this course:
- continue your German studies
- explore the German language for fun
- to get a head start at Uni
- prepare for a German language test in the future
- the teacher is very experienced in preparing international students for University in Germany (High School students)
- the teacher prepares international students (age 17+) for German language tests, such as TestDaf and Goethe Zertifikat
- the teacher has lived in Germany almost all her life and can contribute some insights as well as fun facts about the German culture (Dos and Don'ts, idioms, everyday life, books and films, etc.)

In each lesson, we will cover the four skills - listening, speaking, reading, writing, - with a strong emphasis on listening and speaking during the online session.
We will
- listen to short audio texts to train global as well as selective listening,
- build up new vocabulary,
- prepare short everyday conversations in German,
- practice their pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar in an intensive and ongoing way,
- explore authentic situations and activities and train natural, spontaneous interaction.

This course is highly interactive, and the teacher will encourage every learner to speak as much as German possible during the course.

The textbook (combined with the workbook) we will be using:

Deutsch echt einfach A1.2 (Combined Half Edition)
Textbook Series for High School
Print Text/Workbook (Ch. 6-10)
136 pages
ISBN 978-3-12-676523-7

This textbook is available on the Klett Sprachen USA website for approximately USD$32.95. This book prepares for German language tests, such as Goethe certificate and TestDaf for Youth. It is especially suitable for High School students (14-18 years old) and it provides us with all of the materials we will need: texts, comic strips, activities, exercises, drawings, photos, videos, reference materials, grammar tables, verb lists, and an extensive glossary. Thanks to the technical feature Klett Augmented, the learners can scan book pages and play the corresponding media on your Klett Augmented app for free. (For a sneak preview, take a look at the first chapter using the “Look Inside” feature on Klett Sprachen USA.)

In addition, I will also use interactive, digital, and print materials that I have created over the course of my 16 years of teaching career preparing and assessing students for German universities (Abitur).
