Class Experience
"Play is one of the most important ways in which young children gain essential knowledge and skills." ~UNICEF, 2018 This class sets children up for a lifetime love of learning German. Through fun activities such as songs, rhymes, games, and coloring, learners will begin to enjoy the sounds of German while learning the names of ANIMALS. In each meeting, we will learn four different animals, while also building interpersonal skills, trust, and relationships. The class schedule is carefully...
Students will learn the words for four animals in German in a playful way that forms a positive association with German. This class sets a foundation and desire for future learning.
My native language is English—I learned German from my German mother and took German in school all the way through college, earning my B.A. in German. I even worked for a year as an intern in the German Bundestag, in an environment of total language immersion. I have a deep respect and appreciation for the German language, which I will pass on to your learner in my class! > GERMAN BUNDESTAG I served for one year as an intern in the German Bundestag. > ESL I taught English and German for one year in Taiwan. > EARLY LITERACY I worked for seven years in the children's department of a large public library with a focus on Early Literacy and multilingual programming. > EDUCATION I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in INTERNATIONAL POLITICS and GERMAN; and a Master of Arts degree in INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS with a language focus on MANDARIN CHINESE.
There is a one-page worksheet provided.
A one-page worksheet will provided the day before each class meeting; please print it before class and bring colored pencils/pens/markers for drawing. If it is not possible to print the worksheet, a blank piece of paper is okay!
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be available to "unmute" your learner for their turn to speak, if they cannot "unmute" themselves.
