Students will learn about the exciting life and art of American artist Georgia O'Keeffe who painted colorful pictures of nature abstractly (in simple forms) with a focus on close ups of landscapes and flowers with a special point of view.
Class experience
Create a Georgia O'Keeffe Nature Drawing with Color Pencils Georgia O'Keeffe's life and paintings of landscapes and nature. The class will start with introductions, a slideshow presentation of O'Keeffe's life and art, some questions about the paintings shown, a step by step demonstration and work time. Students will learn about the life and art of Georgia O'Keeffe, her painting style, abstract art (art that does not show reality, but seeks to achieve an effect using shapes, colors, and textures) and perspective. Students will learn how to select a subject of their choice, draw with shading, and how to incorporate a background. Key art terms are color, shape, abstract art, perspective, and background.
