In this Geometry course, students will learn how to find the volume of prisms, cylinders, pyramids, and cones. I have several different 3D shapes that will be used to demonstrate volume formulas. These 3D figures can be tremendously helpful when learning about this topic. We will go over all formulas needed to find volume, and use these formulas in several different ways. This course will give students a solid base of understanding for this main Geometry concept. In this 50-minute class, students will learn new math skills and collaborate with classmates to strengthen their learning. I will present problems and facilitate discussion while talking through common strategies for solving each type of problem. I use two devices while teaching so students will see me face-to-face as well as see me write down and work through questions. There will be constant interaction throughout the class, and the opportunity to ask questions whenever necessary in order to improve understanding. Although this is taught as a one-time class to sharpen your skills on this particular topic, it is also a part of my Geometry series. If you would like to follow this series, the recommended order of classes is below: 1. Area and Perimeter of 2D Shapes 2. Area and Circumference of Circles and Semicircles 3. Area and Perimeter of Composite Figures 4. Volume of Prisms, Cylinders, Pyramids, and Cones (this class) 5. Surface Area of Prisms, Cylinders, and Pyramids 6. Volume and Surface Area of Spheres 7. Area and Perimeter of Similar Figures

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
My name is Caroline Skoglund and I am a middle school math teacher from St. Louis, Missouri. I teach 8th grade Pre-Algebra and Algebra classes during the school year, and know exactly what your child needs to succeed at 6th through 10th grade math! My goal as a teacher is to help students develop critical thinking skills that they can use in all future math classes. I love interacting with students and watching them succeed!
Below is the list of subjects and classes I offer. These are all one-time, 50-minute classes.
