This is a self-paced class. That means that there are no live classes but there will be teacher interaction. Each week, I will post the week’s lessons and assignments in the form of videos, and Desmos lessons (which is free) depending on the concepts. Students will submit assignments and we will interact in the classroom or via private message . I will get to know you as a student through your work and your messages. The purpose of teaching geometry in this form is to allow learners more flexibility in their schedule, the subject matter will be as rigorous as other geometry classes. I will also be available to meet by request. Before taking this course, students should have taken an Algebra 1 course or equivalent\. Homework is provided but answer keys will be posted along with the assignments. Students must self-check. Assessments will be used to track student progress. Please request a letter grade if required. This course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are stressed. It also emphasizes writing proofs to prove properties of geometric figures. After taking this class, you should plan on taking Geometry Semester 2, this will prepare you to continue with Algebra 2 and Precalculus. At the end of each week, it is up to the learner to determine if they need additional help. As a teacher, I feel that each student's learning is important.
