Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This course will focus on the concepts and skills learned in the first quarter of a high school Geometry course. Prerequisite for the course is the successful completion of an Algebra 1 course. Before taking this class students should be able to confidently work with the four operations with positive & negative integers and solve multi-step equations. This is a rigorous Geometry course designed to set students up for success in the remainder of their high school math classes.

Units covered in this course:
Unit 1--Geometry Basics
Unit 2--Logic & Proof
Unit 3--Parallel & Perpendicular Lines

Material will be presented in a straightforward "I do, we do, you do" approach. Students will first watch an example before working through problems with the instructor before solving problems on their own. Students will be assessed with periodic quizzes and unit tests. A final grade will be assigned if requested by the parent/guardian. Required homework will be assigned after each class and will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete daily (2-4 hours a week). Answer keys will be posted for the homework so students may assess their own progress. Questions on homework will be addressed in the first ten minutes of every class session.
