This on-going course will cover key concepts from Geometry! This class is designed for students who are currently in Geometry and need additional assistance on the key concepts, or for students who are homeschooled and need a Geometry course. This course will allow students to collaborate while building an understanding of the problems. During class, examples will be modeled for students. Afterward, we will either do a group activity or independent practice. Students will be given 2-5 problems after classes to work on and bring to the next class so I can check for their understanding. We will focus on the following topics each week: Algebra 1 Review/Pretest Formulas (solve for a variable) Unit 1: Foundations of Geometry Part 1 o Segments and Angles o Constructions o Midpoint o Distance Part 2 o Inductive/Deductive Reasoning o Conditional Statements o Formal/Informal Proofs Unit 2: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Proving Lines Parallel Triangle Angle Sum Slopes of Parallel and Perpendicular Unit 3: Transformations Reflections, Translations, Rotations Classify Rigid Motions Unit 4: Triangle Congruence Isosceles and Equilateral Triangles SAS/SSS/ASA/AAS/HL Congruency Congruent Triangles Unit 5: Relationships in Triangles Perpendicular and Angle Bisectors Medians and Altitudes Inequalities in One and Two Triangles Unit 6 Quadrilaterals and Polygons Angles in Polygons Kites and Trapezoids Parallelograms Special Parallelograms Unit 7: Similarity Similar Triangles and Figures AA/SAS/SSS Similarity Unit 8: Right Triangles and Trigonometry Part 1 o Pythagorean Theorem o 45-45-90 o 30-60-90 o Word Problems Part 2 o Trigonometry o Trigonometry Word Problems o Law of Sine o Law of Cosine Unit 10: Circles Arcs Tangents Chords Inscribed Angles Secants Unit 11: 2- and 3- Dimensional Figures Nets and Cross Sections Prisms and Cylinders Pyramids and Cones Spheres *** Dates and topics are subject to change with student needs *** Please note that this is not a graded class

Teacher expertise and credentials
Mississippi Teaching Certificate in Mathematics
Hello, my name is Ms. Davis! I’m so glad you found an interest in my profile. Here is a little info about myself.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration of Mathematics, History, and education. I am certified to teach secondary level math and history. But with math being my favorite subject, I’ve decided to really dive into my mathematics career. I just graduated with my masters degree in Arts in Teaching. I’m currently pursuing my specialist degree in teacher leadership and curriculum studies. So with all that being said, I have a strong passion for education and helping prepare our future leaders.
I have taught 4 semesters Geometry and have tutored many more in other maths such as Algebra 1, and pre- algebra. My love for learning is evident in my approach to teaching. I believe that hands-on learning is key, as learners retain more knowledge by doing rather than just watching. My teaching style is centered around motivating learners to do their best through honesty, organization, commitment, and hard work.
