In this class, students will learn how to find the area of triangles and trapezoids. Not only will students learn the formulas for find the area of these shapes, but they will learn WHY the formulas work. For example, by drawing a diagonal through a rectangle, two triangles are formed. Given that information, students will be able to derive that it is necessary to divide by 2 when finding the area of any triangles. Each formula can be concretely connected to a previous shape.
