Description

Class Experience

In this 12- week flex class, learners will explore a different geologic feature around the world each week. In this engaging class, learners will be presented with a short video lecture that includes the location of each feature and  the geologic characteristics that are present. Additionally, learners will receive  slides, photos, and videos to better understand that week's topic. After an introduction to the geologic feature, we will shift into a discussion via the Outschool classroom page...

This class is taught in English.

In this ongoing course, learners will be able to identify the location of specific geologic features or areas. Learners will be able to describe some of the characteristics of each feature in geologic terms.

As a geologist, I have had the opportunity to travel to different places and learn about geology in a hands on environment rather than just through a book. My work experience and educational background will enhance the learner outcome throughout this course.

Learners can participate in the optional assignments each week to expand on their geologic knowledge of that week's topic.

Learners will need to provide some supplies for their optional assignments, such as watercolor paints, colored pencils or crayons, and/or other small items found around the house. I will provide learners with additional handouts to strengthen their knowledge of the topic.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:USGS

Although there are no formal assessments in this class, it is my hope and desire for each learner to participate actively in our classroom discussions via the class chat.

No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

We may refer to the USGS website for additional resources.
