My expertise in the topic area: I am a professionally licensed teacher by the state of Oregon to teach Spanish and Social Studies for grades K-12. I have a BA degree in History and a Minor in Spanish. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I have taught an assortment of Social Studies classes, Spanish language classes, and French language classes in international high schools for 5 years, teaching for 2 of those years in Guatemala and 3 of those years in Morocco.
Politically sensitive topics such as Islam, colonization, and monarchy will be addressed in this class as objectively as possible. I am qualified by the International Baccalaureate to teach IB History Middle East and North Africa. Also, I have taught AP World History for six years. As we look at primary sources about Christianity and Islam in North Africa, I will, to the best of my ability, keep the conversation purely scholastic.
