Let’s challenge ourselves to a Geography Bee on South Asia! This class is part of a series designed to help students have fun studying human geography facts. Perhaps your student does not know much about South Asia. This class can serve to introduce students to a new region of the world, before more in depth study. Students will demonstrate mastery of up to 28 concepts related to locations, trade and society in and near South Asia by practicing for meaning, reviewing, completing a Kahoot game quiz and then reviewing errors. These concepts are embedded in middle school geography learning standards.
Teacher qualifications: I am certified as a Social Studies Teacher in my state, and have taught Social Studies (including World Geography) for over 18 years. My classes have had lots of fun and engagement with Kahoot Challenges and other techniques for bringing fun to the classroom while building student skills. Highlights of Education: B.A. History, Master's Degree Public Policy, 30 credits beyond Master's including Education, Geography, History and English Language Arts. Homework Offered
Optional. Students are encouraged to review the provided handouts before class. Student can also practice location with the online interactive game cited on the handout. These activities will improve the depth of their learning and also give them a competitive edge in the Kahoot challenge.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The Kahoot game quiz results will show student mastery of geography concepts and terms. Follow up discussion from the final class review at the end of class will supplement those results. The completed blank handout of terms and ideas, plus a completed black line master map can serve as artifacts for student portfolio.Grades Offered
