Description
Class Experience
Let’s challenge ourselves to a Geography Bee on Russia! This class is part of a series designed to have fun while reviewing human geography facts. This geo bee (#3) focuses on places and things in and near the complex, vast and colorful country of Russia. Class will begin with a review of 27 terms such as: capital city, title of Empire rulers, major regions, geographic features. To help students prepare, handouts are provided that include a political map of Russia plus a list of terms...
Students will demonstrate mastery of 23/27 concepts related to places and things in and near Russia by practicing for meaning, reviewing, completing a Kahoot game quiz and then reviewing errors. These concepts are embedded in middle school geography learning standards.
Teacher qualifications: I am certified as a Social Studies Teacher in my state, and have taught Social Studies (including World Geography) for over 18 years. My classes have had lots of fun and engagement with Kahoot Challenges.
No required homework. Handouts are provided to assist students in their review for the Kahoot game in class. Pre-review is optional, but will make students more competitive in their game context, and reinforce learning. Completed handouts and a student certificate of accomplishment will serve as artifacts for student's academic portfolio.
2 files available upon enrollmentHandouts will be provided (for student review and reference): List of terms and definitions on Russian places and things that may be covered in Kahoot Map of Russian Federation
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The Kahoot game quiz results will show student mastery of map skills and other terms. Follow up notes from final class review at the end of class will supplement those results
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This does not apply to the material being covered in class. Students should be able to handle competition, gracefully. Our goal is to learn and have fun.
