US Grade 4 - 7
Let’s challenge ourselves to a Geography Bee! This class is part of a series designed to have fun while reviewing human geography facts. This geo bee (#2) focuses on landforms and the continent of Europe. Class will begin with a review of 21 landform terms such as: mountain range, continent, plain, strait and taiga. Students will demonstrate mastery of 21 concepts related to landforms on the continent of Europe, by practicing for meaning, reviewing, completing a Kahoot game quiz and then reviewing errors. These concepts are embedded in middle school geography learning standards.
Teacher qualifications: I am certified as a Social Studies Teacher in my state, and have taught Social Studies (including Geography) for over 18 years. My classes have had lots of fun and engagement with Kahoot Challenges.
Homework Offered
Handouts are provided to assist students in their review for the Kahoot game in class. Pre-review is optional, but will make students more competitive in their game context, and reinforce learning. Completed handouts and a student certificate of accomplishment will serve as artifacts for student's academic portfolio.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The Kahoot game quiz results will show student mastery of map skills and terms. Follow up notes from final class review at the end of class will supplement those results.Grades Offered
3 files available upon enrollmentHandouts are attached to this lesson for our learners to use in preparing for this Kahoot challenge, and to support the class review. Students should have two screens for the kahoot game quiz, if possible. The device normally used for online classes will display the questions and choices through Outschool. A smart phone or tablet will serve as the second device, used as the response controller. Using this second device, learners will sign in to www.kahoot.it, enter the PIN number provided in class (after review of terms) and then they are ready to play our Kahoot. If a second device is not available to enter answers, students can participate with a simple paper & pencil, and keep their own tally of results.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This does not apply to the material being covered in class. Students should be able to handle competition, gracefully. Our goal is to learn and have fun.
