Every week we will focus on three dogs from one continent. Students will be provided with a map of the the continent as well as a map of the country from which each of the three dogs originates. The focus of this class is Geography, but I will spend a brief amount of time describing the dog and its history. During each class, we will label and color our maps of the subject countries and discuss important physical features and political boundaries as we do so. Links to the maps and the list of map locations will be posted to the classroom usually about 48 hours prior to class. Students are expected to print these out and bring them to class along with a few colored pencils. Printing the maps in color is preferable, but not essential. I wish to accommodate my students' interests as much as possible. Therefore, students may request we study specific dog breeds and their countries of origin. These requests will be added to a list which will be posted to this description of the class. Most of my lessons include lots of map work (drawing mountain ranges, deserts, etc.), discussions, slides, and brief lecturing. Depending on how much time is left, I try to end all classes with a short game-like quiz to. It is expected that the students know their compass directions. N, E, S, W! (Never East Sour Watermelon!.Never, Ever Stop Wandering) If none of the days/times suit your schedule, please do not hesitate to contact me and request another section.
