Science meets art in this super cool project! Learners will use markers, watercolour paint, and salt to create awesome geode paintings - we will also observe different scientific reactions that happen as we create the artwork.

Calling all curious and creative minds! Come marvel at the jaw-dropping beauty that will unfold as science meets art in this super cool STEAM project! Learners will use markers, watercolour paint, and salt to create awesome geode paintings. In addition to being creative, we will also observe scientific reactions that happen as we create the artwork. You’ll have to join us to find out what happens! This one-time class will consist of three parts: colouring with markers, painting with watercolour, and adding salt to the artwork. Ms. Emily will guide students step-by-step throughout the class and will show a close up view of her hands while she demonstrates each step. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and share their artwork with the other learners in the class. It will be a warm and welcoming environment that will be a good mix of learning and fun!

Supply List
Supply list: salt (coarse salt works best but any kind of salt will work), a variety of washable markers including grey (or black if you don’t have grey), watercolour paint, a medium-sized paintbrush, water jar, tissues or paper towel, and watercolour paper (computer paper can be used if you don’t have watercolour paper).
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
