45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this informal setting, learners can chat about geography with others who enjoy discussing countries, cultures, languages, mountains, rivers, lakes and oceans. The teacher will guide the conversation but this will be mostly learner led. We will begin every session with general house rules including respecting opinions, giving everyone a chance to speak and being kind. Teacher will post the topic of the day before class so learners will have an idea about the discussions. Each session will feature a "Mission Impossible" - learners can choose to accept any assignment that interests them and prepare something ahead of time for the class to discuss. This could be a drawing, a model, an object, or anything else that would be helpful in completing the "mission." Examples include the following: What's the Buzz - Where are the Brood X Cicadas Emerging? Canal Calamity - Tell the class what happened when the Suez Canal got blocked. Denali Dilemma - What's going on on Mount Denali? Travels Along the Silk Road Where in the world is Grandma? - using a series of clues, try to figure out where Grandma is spending her summer vacation. Do you think Atlantis really existed? Where do you think it was? What do you know about Mongolia? Hawaiian Island study Stans - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turmenistan, Tajikistan, Krygystan, Afhanistan, Pakistan Indian states and their geography. What happened to Amelia Earheart? Famous pirates and their travels
