Each class will begin with a grounding exercise to bring students into the present moment and build awareness of the body, followed by a series of yoga asanas (poses) that we will move through slowly and gently, and we will wrap-up with a resting pose to allow the body to take in the benefit of the yoga session. Students will be guided through gentle yoga poses designed to build flexibility, deepen breathing, and presence of mind. Designed for multiple levels. Focus is on being present in the moment and accepting yourself and your body's abilities in the moment.
I have been doing and teaching Hatha yoga for more than 10 years. I have found that yoga is extremely helpful for anxiety, understanding your body and your feelings, learning to become present in the moment, and accepting yourself.
Students will need an open (ideally quiet) space to practice and a yoga mat/towel/carpet to practice on. Yoga can be practiced on a hard floor but it will be less comfortable. Optional supplies: thin medium sized blanket, yoga blocks or books for support, and a yoga strap or cloth belt for certain poses.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Your learner will need an open (and ideally quiet) space to move during this class.
