US Grade 7 - 9
Beginner - Advanced Level
This 5-week class allows students to explore topics in genetics. Topics that will be covered include: what makes DNA, DNA and RNA replication, DNA mutations, protein synthesis, genes and alleles, Mendel's experiments with pea plants, Punnett squares, and how genetic information is passed down to the next generation. This class will consist of Powerpoints made by the instructor, and they will be posted for students to follow along with. The Powerpoints have words, pictures, and discussion based questions. Although supplemental material is given, the assignments are based on the videos and Powerpoints only. The assignments are designed to allow the student to interact with the material, rather than just trying to memorize.
Learning Goals
Be familiar with what makes DNA
Be able to explain the process of DNA and RNA replication

over 5 WeeksLesson 1:
Intro + DNA
You are DNA! Learn about what DNA is made of and the steps of DNA replication. Learn a bit about me, the instructor, too.
