Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Chemistry is one of the most challenging science courses for high school students. This 1-1 tutoring session is available to students on an as needed basis, and is great for students who may need more support with the concepts and calculations. This tutoring is for students in general chemistry courses, not in AP or IB chemistry. Students should come to each session prepared with the questions they would like to cover. I will discuss the content with them, refer to outside resources such as a short YouTube clip to illustrate concepts as needed, and work through problems with them step-by-step. Topics can include, but are not limited to: ⚗️Scientific Notation ⚗️Significant Figure Calculations ⚗️Properties of Matter ⚗️Atomic Theory ⚗️Chemical Bonding ⚗️VSEPR ⚗️Lewis Diagrams ⚗️Imperial and Metric Conversions ⚗️Mass, Volume, Temperature, and Pressure Calculations ⚗️Periodic Table Trends ⚗️Creating Chemical Formulas ⚗️Creating and Balancing Chemical Equations ⚗️Calculating Empirical and Molecular Formulas ⚗️Stoichiometry ⚗️Gas Laws Please note: This is not a "do my homework for me" type of tutoring. The goal is for learners to build confidence in their own skills and be able to solve problems on their own. I provide a scaffolded approach and slowly ease learners into completing more of the problem independently with each successive problem in the session. Availability: 🧪Regular availability Mondays-Thursdays 12:45-5:45pm Pacific time zone, September-June 🧪Occasional weekend availability may be posted September-June 🧪Limited summer hours by request only ⚠️Please be aware of the Outschool refund policy: 🎓 Full refunds are given within 24 hours of payment, or if sessions are cancelled at least 48 hours ahead of their start time 🎓Cancelling a session beyond the 24 hour payment window and with less than 48 hours before the session start time will forfeit the refund
Learning Goals
The goal of each session is for students to become more comfortable with the chemistry topics that they are learning about, and to feel confident when returning to their regular chemistry classes.

Sources
Any video clips will cover only the chemistry content that your student is learning about. These video clips will be screen-shared by me, but links can be provided to the clips upon student request. I often use clips from Khan Academy, Ted-Ed, the Amoeba Sisters, Crash Course, and Bozeman Science, which are all free and available on YouTube.
