Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 11
Are you taking AP World History, AP European History, or AP US (United States) History soon? Prepare for your test with an AP authorized teacher and experienced grader for the College Board! I have been teaching with AP authorization and grading for the College Board for 17 years. I can help you understand what graders are looking for in your test answers, as well as all the details of how the test is constructed to help you reach your highest score! This class will prepare you for the skills you will need to be successful for these courses, as well as the exams in May. In this class we will learn both reading and writing strategies to ensure you have the skills necessary for AP level History. In class, we will practice skills such as annotation, close reading, and document analysis to prepare you for the tasks you will need to carry out in your class. We will also work on writing skills such as constructing an essay, how to use evidence, how to write a DBQ, and making your essay sophisticated to prepare for AP exams and assessments. This class is helpful to students who are soon to take AP courses or exams, as well as students wanting to improve their reading and writing skills in history in general. ESL friendly.

I also offer full year courses at the AP level for each of these subjects to follow if desired, as well as AP review courses starting in March to review and prepare for exams in May.

Week 2-evaluating documents-sourcing, overview of question types and themes
