This course is designed for students who have already completed a fourth grade math curriculum as a Summer review before entering fifth grade. Students should already know the majority of their multiplication facts. Students will have plenty of opportunities to work with partners and play small group games. It is important for students to be active participants in class. We believe in creating a classroom community where all students feel valued and safe to make mistakes and celebrate each other's successes. We will guide student learning to meet each student where they are at and differentiate their learning. We utilize the Singapore method for teaching math. Each week, we will review a different math concept to get students prepared and feeling confident and having the foundation they need going into fifth grade. These topics do not build on one another from week to week as materials should all be review for students. Week of June 6: Place Value Numbers 1-1,000,000 Week of June 13: Multiplication Fact Fluency Practice Week of June 20: Multiplication (single digit by multiple digits) Week of June 27: Long Division Review (rap) Week of July 4: Solving Multiplication and Division Word Problems Week of July 11: Multiplication of Fractions Week of July 18: Division of Fractions Week of July 25: Addition of Fractions Week of August 1: Subtraction of Fractions Week of August 8: Multiplication Fact Fluency Practice Week of August 15: Place Value and Numbers up to One Million
