Description
Class Experience
Students will learn to analyze a book in a different manner - comparing themes, debating aloud or in writing about the relationships between happiness, justice, political freedom, equality, dystopia, utopia, etc. The overall goal will be to have a better understanding of this particular book, and learn how to discuss literature in a way that prepares them for higher grade level classes.
Reading Breakdown: Before the first class- read to chapter 7 Before week 2 - read chapters 7-17 Before week 3 - read chapters 17 through the end Week 4 - writing assignments and/or group projects - during and outside of class time Week 5 - discussion of assignments and projects - class wrap-up

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed on coming to class prepared, participating in the discussion, short writing assignments, and projects. A formal grade will be given if the parent or student requests it.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This book contains some mild references to violence, and depicts angry parents and a dystopian society.
