In this one-time course, students will learn the basics of growing food in a container garden by using paper towel tubes, shoeboxes, milk cartons and more. From number of seeds to harvesting, your child will learn how to make a garden grow!

Description

Class Experience

Students will learn:
How to choose the right garden tools for their home garden
How to choose the right location 
How to choose the right plants (for their container choice)
How to maintain their garden, through proper watering, happy soil levels and great sunlight
Songs to remind them of different steps to garden. 
Students will need the following materials: paper towel tubes milk carton(s) 2L bottles scissors (preferably an adult with a box cutter) flowers, fruit, vegetables or herbs to plant watering can or cup filled with water dry towel seed starting mix (any brand is fine - if using seeds) small bag of garden soil (any brand is fine - if using plant starts) popsicle stick or tongue depressor permanent marker
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
