1 in-class hoursClass Experience
Welcome to Gardening Club 101! This class is intended to be taken prior to signing up for my ongoing class, Gardening Club! In this 2 week course, students will learn what basic gardening supplies are for, how to use them, and what plants will grow best in their environment. In our second class, students will plant their seeds and start their gardening journey! This class is very hands-on and will most likely get messy! Our first-class will be interactive and full of discussion as students explore their new tools and learn what plants may grow in the space they have available (different plants thrive in shady areas while others crave full sun!). Our second class will have students following directions to prepare their container, plant their seeds, and water their new garden! Students do not need any experience prior to beginning class but should be able to follow one-step directions. After completing the second class, students can continue to connect with their new friends by joining my ongoing Gardening Club!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Welcome to my classroom!
My name is Miss Jillian and I'm an educator with over half a decade of experience in elementary education. I have taught children of all ages but nothing makes me happier or more certain of my calling as an educator than teaching young learners. I've primarily spent time in classrooms Pre-K 3 through 1st but have tutored and taught students of all grades, K-12! I am certified in the state of Virginia to teach Elementary and Special Education.
I believe students learn best in small groups tailored to their specific needs. I think children are naturally curious and should be encouraged to explore their interests both in and outside the classroom. Good thing Outschool has a class for everyone!
I primarily focus on primary school classes, especially reading and writing. I love to foster a love of reading in my students! Nothing makes me happier than having a good book talk with a student! I also like to teach classes that allow students to steer the ship, like show and tell or reader's circle. I love when students share what they're passionate about with others!
My hobbies include baking and cooking, reading, writing, playing board games, and going for a walk with my dog. I collect fake cacti (knit, eraser, candles...I even have a lamp!) and Little Golden Books. I love all things Disney (especially Disney World...hoping to get to Disneyland soon!) and Harry Potter! I hope to share some of my passions with students through Outschool classes as well!
I can't wait to see you (or your child!) in my classroom soon! Please reach out with any questions, I am here to support my students in any way possible. Thanks for stopping by!
