At the conclusion of the class, students are encouraged to complete a worksheet titled "My Plan." The instructions for this task are provided alongside the assignment. There is an assignment after each class. It should take between 3-10 minutes.Class Experience
NO LIVE CLASSES! The weekly video is posted on Monday morning, discussion topics are posted on Wednesdays. You can contact me either on the classroom page or in private message. I encourage my students to ask questions, respond to posts and comment after the videos have been posted. No lengthy assignments will be given in this class. One of my students' main complaints is screen time limits. The question I always get is WHY!!! How dare our parents take away my screen time, oh and by the way, I havenβt done my chores. I have been reminded seven to thirty times but stillβ¦..I WANT TO GAME! In this class we are going to discuss how not following through on our tasks is directly linked to our consequences. This may include more chores, limited gaming or phone usage. Showing disrespect comes in many forms. Join me and letβs find a better solution! 1st week WHY can't I have more screentime? Cell privileges? Less chores? Entitled behavior! Want versus need. 2nd week Following through when asked to do something, WITHOUT talking back. Staying on task. 3rd week Earning back what we have lost? Including respect! 4th week We know the consequences, now letβs change how we see them. 5th week Staying on task. Finishing what we start without having to be told repeatedly. Our discussion topics will include: the upside of internet/screen times, addictive behavior, temper tantrums, finishing what we start and starting over again. The videos are shorter than a live class. Your child is welcome to pause, rewatch and take notes. Since this is not a live class with interaction, all of the information can be presented in a shorter time frame. Thus making it more informative and easier for students to sit through.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Iowa State University
My BA degree is in Child and Family Services. My area of expertise is working with students who need a little more help along the way.
As a mom and teacher, I have researched this topic extensively. It is the #1 item my students speak to me about in reference to what they want. More screentime! In my research, I have found many viewpoints that tackle this topic. For example, https://www.uos.ac.uk/content/benefits-reducing-screen-time this article is one of many that includes the benefits of reducing screentime. We will also be looking at the positive aspects that are gained from the extensive content that can be found online, even in the gaming world. There are more than two sides to every story. Let's learn what they are!
