US Grade Kindergarten
Learners will practice adding and subtracting skills in an engaging online board game. Learners choose their colors and roll the dice to see who goes first. They will add the two dice and determine who gets the highest roll. They will put learner turns in order based on this roll. Next, learners will take turns rolling the dice, adding them, and moving that many spaces on the board. Peers may offer assistance when needed. The first to the finish line will win the game. After completing once around the board, learners will roll and subtract the dice to see who gets the lowest number. That player goes first this time, and players are put in order from lowest roll to highest. This time around the board, learners will subtract the dice and move around the board according to the answers. This will be a very slow-moving round and will not likely finish. The idea for this round is to practice and/or introduce the idea of subtracting. Learners can expect to chit-chat with the teacher and peers while playing. Positive encouragement and peer interactions will be modeled by the teacher. The game will be screen shared by the teacher. No other materials or links outside the Outschool Zoom classroom will be used.
