An ongoing social club for students that want to geek out about books together. Join me at the game table, each week, and see how books and gaming collide in unique gameplay formats!
Class Experience
**A MINIMUM OF 4 STUDENTS IS NEEDED FOR SOME OF THE GAMING FUN.** This is an ongoing club for all those bookworms out there. Bring Your Own Book is the game this club will be focused around, and book talk will be encouraged each week we get together. The games played in each class are subject to change, depending on class size. Several "special appearance" games, that play on words, will also be brought to the table. Read on for all the book craze that will go down each and every time...
Students will have a chance to: ✓practice literary skills ✓work on reading aloud in a group setting ✓enjoy some social gaming time
If I could play games all day long, every day I would!! Being able to bring 2 of my greatest passions, books AND games, to the table makes it even better. Bring Your Own Book is a game I pull out often for our local book club, and the kids always enjoy it. This game brings so much crazy laughter to the table each and every time it's played. I enjoy hearing all the silly responses the kids come up with. I can't wait to introduce the world of "Bring Your Own Book" to your kiddos! Because I'm a gameschooler, I'm always finding new game treasures. I look forward to continue adding games to this club's game list that play on books 'n words. It's a challenge I thrive on!
✓A book* ✓A notebook ✓A pen/pencil *Each player will need to have a copy of a book on hand. Any book they choose! This can be a favorite of theirs, a classic they might not have read yet, their history book, maybe that dog training book they just grabbed at the library, or even a cookbook. The options are limitless. Just make sure each student has one, and is able to read from it. Players will need to be able to read game information that will be sent to them through the chat feature, so make sure the chat box is ready to go. Each player will also need to be comfortable reading aloud to the group, as their answers will need to be heard by everyone in the class. So check that the audio is working properly upon joining the class. **IMPORTANT** Because of the game structure, a minimum of 4 students makes for a better gaming experience. Once you enroll, please, keep an eye on the classroom announcements and discussion. This is where I will keep you updated on enrollment, and the coming week's plans. I will also send out messages, so make sure you are checking your email's spam folder, as some wind up there by accident. You can also find these messages inside your "conversations" by clicking the drop down menu on your Outschool profile. It is also good to familiarize yourself with the classroom forum, as some information will be sent to each player privately. These messages can be accessed through the "teacher" section inside the classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
