Class experience

I am a gameschooler! I LOVE teaching with games. Math is a really fun one to bring to the game table. There are so many ways to use games to practice math. The gameplay atmosphere helps players to relax, and enjoy the moment. Sprinkling in the "math" is a bonus, and Qwixx Multiplication actually adds another layer...STRATEGY! So, students are able to not only enjoy the social aspects of playing a game in class, but they are able to engage in logical thought as each round is taken.

I do believe memorization of the times tables sets kids up for better success as they make their way up the math ladder. Being able to have this box checked off as they head into division, fractions, decimals, algebra, and higher math helps tremendously. I used Math U See with my kids and I fully believe mastering each math concept before moving on is key to less struggles down the road. They are all building blocks, and pave the way for a smoother math journey. Sometimes "mastering" comes with challenges, so exposing students to other ways of learning a concept can be beneficial. That's where games come in!

I also feel it's important to continuously be reminded of the basic math facts. It's great to keep the times tables fresh in your mind, and that's where Qwixx Multiplication comes in! Playing Qwixx Multiplication helps me to keep these skills fresh in my mind, actually making it the perfect game for all ages!

Supplies needed prior to coming to class include the following: ✔FIRST 2 PAGES OF the 12 page PDF (laminated or put in sheet protectors) ✔Dry Erase Marker (for easy wipe off) ✔Multiplication Table Chart (optional) PRINTED MATERIAL IS REQUIRED-Each student WILL ONLY NEED to print the first 2 pages of the PDF. These pages are FULL COLOR. These are the score sheets for the game, and this is the only way kids will be able to play the games. So these score sheet can be reusable I recommend laminating, or using sheet protectors, for EACH of the score sheets.
