Description

Class Experience

As a student of creative writing, you will work collectively to create an original work of fiction with multiple writers through group collaboration.

You will learn and demonstrate:

- your own voice as a writer, which you will develop throughout the class

- use of the central subject matter that comes out of your own individual imagination

- your understanding of the creative process

- problem-solving

- an ability to invent and organize plot; develop character; modulate tone; make use of imaginative imagery; and shape and control the formal in both modular and linear narratives
The teacher for this class has a Creative Writing Certificate from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and is a published author. There shouldn't be any sensitive or high-risk subjects; however, this is a DND class. The teacher is a highly rated and trusted teacher in this subject matter.
The student will be expected to create their character before class begins on their own time. The student will be expected to write three pages each week during the second month of classes. During the third month of classes, the student will be expected to help edit the work on their own time as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
At the end of class, the student will have an electronic copy in PDF format of their new book they have co-written. The students can also have family members purchase print versions of the completed book.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
