I love gaming and I'm sure you do too! Now it is time to learn to cook one of foods that you might have only seen on the screen in the Zelda games. We are going to take your cooking skills from "no" to "WOAH!" We will be making a delicious dish called "Energizing Glazed Meat". This class is geared toward tweens and teens that know a little bit about being in the kitchen. For example, I will talk to the student about how to hold and chop with a knife, but if your student has never held a knife before, this class might not be for them. This recipe was used, with permission, from the "Unofficial Zelda Cookbook". In the book, each recipe references a food that is used, seen, or created in one of the games from the Zelda franchise. It is my hope that this class will be way for students that LOVE video games to step out of their comfort zone and to try something new. Before starting to cook, please review the document that includes materials and ingredients to ensure that you have everything. You, the parent, does not need to cut or wash anything for your student. We will do that in our class. When I'm making videos, I talk to the students just like they are right beside me. At times I make mistakes. Typically, I will call out my mistake and leave it in the video instead of editing, because I know that kids NEED to see people make mistakes. I want your child to know that I am not perfect and that mistakes happen for everyone!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Westminster College
Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.
Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.
I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
