Game On! Weekly French Games For Intermediate Level French Students (Ages 10-12)

Conversing in a foreign language is difficult. In some ways, it’s like public speaking! Many French students are self-conscious about conversing in French.  In this ongoing class, we will play FUN games to encourage students to take risks and talk to one another in French. Students want to have fun, and if they do, they learn a lot more! 

Here are some of the games we will play:
-Two Truths And a Lie
-Taboo
-Comic Strip Descriptions
-Debates
-Desert Island
-Never Have I Ever...

Students will be given directives prior to each class on the game to be played at the next meeting. 

This class requires a minimum of 5 learners to run. It is intended for intermediate level speakers who are looking for fun opportunities to practice speaking French with the guidance of a certified French teacher.

A note on making mistakes:
Mistakes are a normal part of learning a language! This class is a no judgment zone, but learners should be ready and willing to speak in French! Validating your learner’s efforts is far more important to me than perfect grammar.  I believe language is a tool to communicate and connect, not just a skill to be mastered. That’s why I use discrete techniques for error correction in all my conversation classes. For instance, while the learner is telling me what they have to say, I nod and repeat their sentences but with the correct sentence structure/vocabulary/verb tense, etc.
