Open to kids from ages 9-13, this class is a social gathering to play a fun online game. We will join a private game room to play one of three different games while chatting on Zoom. Gartic is a simple game to learn using only basic computer controls - mouse and keyboard. Students take turns drawing one of two items based around the theme. The other students try to guess and points are awarded for correct guesses and drawings. The game allows for hints, checks for correct spelling, and hides correct answers until the end of the round. Personally, I am terrible at drawing, but I try my best! Curve Fever is a simple game to learn using only basic computer controls (arrow keys). Students drive their triangle around drawing lines. You earn points by not running into things, going through lines, and using special upgrades. We will all be limited to using only upgrades that everyone in the class has earned. I will be encouraging and positive to allow everyone to play together. Paper is another simple game that is quick and easy to learn. Students try coloring in their portion of the board without running into a wall or having someone run into them. It displays the current amount of the board owned by each player. If you run into something then you simply rejoin and start again. This gives a great opportunity to practice handling set backs and frustrations in a fun game format. This class is open kids of any skill level. We will practice good sportsmanship, winning and losing with honor, and treating others with kindness. Our goals are to make new friends, have fun, and enjoy the game. I would love for your kids to join us any time they are available for this fun class. Week of March 1: Curve Fever Week of March 7: Paper Week of March 14: Gartic (This pattern will repeat every 3 weeks. Unless the students vote on a different game that particular day or one website goes down and we must switch.)
