Class Experience

In this class, your student will learn how to make my delicious Cheesy Bacon Potato Wedges.  This recipe was created a few years ago, after adapting a recipe I saw in an old cookbook.  My teaching style is relaxed, fun and interactive.  Your student will need to slice the potatoes into wedges, dip into flour and use a baking dish to melt the butter and place the wedges into the warm butter, so they need to be comfortable doing so, or have a parent help them. All questions will be answered, even the ones submitted after class.  In this class, the recipe will continue baking after the class is finished, but I will go over those details with them.  Experience in the kitchen is preferred, so that your child will feel at ease.

Parental Guidance
By enrolling in this class, parents accept responsibility for their student's safety, which includes equipment, tools, and ingredients. Parental guidance is requested in supporting the student in the kitchen, as students will be using items like a stove, oven, knives, etc. Remember, Outschool policy is that parents remain off camera. Families are responsible for making necessary changes to recipes to avoid allergens. Please let me know what allergies your student has. Substitutions can be made, if needed. Please send me a message ahead of time, if help is requested. In this recipe possible allergens are dairy (cheese and butter), pork (bacon) and wheat. Bacon can be left off and the recipe is still delicious. If you are using dairy-free cheese, I would suggest adding it after the dish is removed from the oven.
Supply List
4 medium or 3 large russet potatoes, 1 stick butter or margarine, salt & pepper to taste, 1/2 to 3/4 cup flour to dredge potatoes, 4 slices of bacon, 4-8 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese.  Additional ingredients that are optional: garlic powder, seasoned salt, italian seasoning.   ****PLEASE HAVE POTATOES WASHED AND DRIED BEFORE CLASS, WITH PEELINGS ON.****
Tools: 
Kitchen knife , cutting board, 13 X 9 baking dish, a plate to dredge the potatoes with flour, kitchen shears (if you want to cut bacon into pieces),
HAVE INGREDIENTS OUT ON THE COUNTER WHEN CLASS STARTS.
