In this ongoing book club, I will read one of the many books authored by Gail Gibbons. Gail Gibbons is an accomplished writer and illustrator of more than fifty children's book (most all of them non-fiction). From firemen to vegetables to penguins to how a house is built, Gibbons covers them all. Upon completion of the book, we will discuss the topic and create an activity to accompany our reading time. Each course stands on its own, so do not worry, the content does not build. You may join the book club at any time. This is Gail Gibbons official website to view for an entire book list: https://www.gailgibbons.com/ . An example of a class is as follows: (1) Read book "It's Raining" (2) Watch a video clip about the water cycle and discuss the process and its importance to our planet (3) Students will color and create their own water cycle from a PDF printout (will be provided before the start of the class). Enrichment details for a water cycle experiment will be provided during class that may be completed after class. Week of 21 April: "Ladybugs" Week of 28 April: "Caves & Caverns" Week of 5 May: "Apples" Week of 12 May: "It's Raining" Week of 19 May: "Click: A Book About Cameras & Taking Pictures" Week of 26 May: "Ice Cream" Once you join the book club, I will provide the specific book list and supplies for the following week, before the cancellation deadline (24 hours prior to start of class), should you decide to cancel the class. Also, feel free to offer me suggestions titles geared towards your child's interests. Students will not need the book- I will read from my copy.
