In this ten-day online class, students will be engaging in conversation about popular medical television shows: Grey's Anatomy while exploring the underlying science. Students will be guides to discuss the main characters, plot, and themes of the selected episode. Day 1: Osteosarcoma (Tumor on the skull) Day 2: Aneurysms (Katie Bryce Brain problem) Day 3: Osteosarcoma Day 4: Osteosarcoma (Solider with one leg) Day 5: Ascaris Lumbricoides ( Roundworms) Day 6: Astrocytoma (Amelia's Tumor) Day 7: Dilated Cardiomyopathy (Ballon heart) Day 8: Dilated Cardiomyopathy (Transplant heart) Day 9: SPOILER Richard memory lost Day 10: SPOILER Richard Cobalt poisoning The students will be asked to pay attention to the patient in Grey's Anatomy. We will look at the symptoms of the patient, x-ray/CT scans, or any additional clues of the disease. What better way to learn medicine other than to explore your favorite shows? CENSORED: The lessons will be appropriate for middle and high school learners. It will limit discussion that is best suited for the age group of students enrolled in the classroom.
