Welcome to Furry Friends Storytelling! Animals are wonderful characters to use as a way to start your writing adventure. We’ll ignite your imagination to create a world where you make the rules! This is a great place for beginning writers to learn how to set up a story. Over our 8 weeks together, we will learn how to develop a story for your furry friend using the following steps: 1. Who: You will create your character and get to know him or her like a friend. 2. Audience & Voice: Audience: Who is your audience? Voice: What voice will be used to tell the story? Yours or your character’s? 3. What: Your character has a problem or situation to take care of. We’ll decide what the situation is that your furry friend needs help with. 4. Setting the Scene: Using the 5 senses to bring your story to life. 5. Where & When: Everyone is from somewhere! Let’s decide where your character lives and brainstorm all the details about this awesome place. When: Is your story happening during the summer? At Halloween? Deciding when is an important part of the story. 6. Why: Why is it important for your character to overcome the situation? What is the “reward” for solving the problem? 7. How: What is the choice your character made to overcome the problem? How did your character find a solution? 8. The End: What happens after your character solves the problem? What has changed or what has gone back to normal?

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! As an entrepreneur, writer, and avid reader, I am teaching courses on writing and business, and offering reading clubs. The excitement young people have for creating unique ideas is a wonderful thing to see and I have a passion for mentoring and building those ideas up. Each one of us has a special talent or gift that we can use to contribute to our communities. My hope is to help young learners find their gifts and how they fit into their lives.
