In part 2 of this laugh-filled camp, learners will continue to quench their thirst for a good argument! Each week, students will be assigned a topic and side to debate. They will be given time during class to collaborate with their team in closely monitored breakout rooms. We will then join back together to present our debates. Day 1: Debate #1 Students will introduce themselves and then participate in a quick icebreaker debate. We will discuss rules for our debates and then have a practice debate on the topic, "Should chickens wear clothing?". Day 2: Debate #2 -Who would win? Unicorn VS Nessi Day 3: Debate #3 -Would dinosaurs make good pets? Day 4: Debate #4 -Is water wet? (Or does it just make other things wet?) Day 5: Debate #5 -Learner's choice! Learner's will choose the topic to be debated! Please note: There is no requirement for previous debate experience. All levels of experience are welcome! Part 1 of the class is also NOT a prerequisite! Classes may be taken out of order. See you soon!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to meet you and to start learning together! My name is Christina Byrd and I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2013 with a Bachelor of Education in Music. I went on to graduate with a master's degree in Education with specialization in Gifted Education, from William Carey University. I also hold a teaching license for the state of Mississippi and am certified to teach kindergarten through 12th grade. I am currently teaching my 9th year of gifted education. I have taught 2nd through 6th grade students and love what I do!
I have a passion for helping gifted students and parents of gifted children to understand what it means to be gifted, to gain skills that gifted students need to thrive, and to meet the social and emotional needs of gifted learners. As a grown-up gifted student, I have a first hand understanding of what these exceptional learners need to meet their full potential! I love watching my students learn and grow as I teach them the tools that they need for success. I love to have fun with learning and teaching STEM and other skills through fun topics!
I am a mom to a wonderful 3 year old little boy and wife to the best husband in the world! I also live on a small farm ! My hobbies include crochet, cross-stitch, hand embroidery, painting wooden toys, floristry, and canning! I LOVE to make learning fun, so be on the lookout not only for classes for gifted students but for special classes featuring my pets and hobbies! I hope to see you soon!
