Get ready to open your mind to an abundance of creativity! Learners, in this 4 week class, we will work on two different styles of writing: persuasive and descriptive. We will meet twice a week for discussion and there will be many opportunities to meet on the classroom discussion board for various activities and communication. We will spend 2 weeks on each style. The teacher will spend time showing learners how to write from start to finish. We will discuss proper usage, spelling, research and other ideas that help learners to be successful in writing. The teacher will give opportunities for students to ask questions and share ideas throughout each live class and on the discussion board. We will have fun playing games, such as KAHOOT to help reinforce learning. There will be video clips showing how to use a variety of words/phrases correctly. The teacher will also have games from the website GoNoodle. **When stories are completed, learners will read the stories to the class and the teacher. This gives learners an opportunity to share what they have written/learned over the two weeks for each writing style.** WEEK 1 and 2: Persuasive Writing -- Learners will be introduced to the basics of persuasive writing and what makes us successful. The teacher will have a short Google Slides presentation in each class and examples of writing to compare. There will be a list of topics to choose from. If the learner would like to write on another topic, they would need to discuss this with the teacher to ensure it is an appropriate topic for class. Over the course of the first two weeks, there will be 4 live classes as well as every opportunity to post to the discussion board in the classroom to share ideas and ask questions. WEEK 3 and 4: Descriptive Writing -- During the final two weeks, learners will see what it is like to be a creative, descriptive writer. They will also be given the opportunity to draw a picture of what their story is describing. The teacher will post the list of topics to choose from and/or learners may discuss other appropriate options. During the final two weeks, there will be 4 live classes as well as every opportunity to post to the discussion board in the classroom to share ideas and ask questions.
